Rust wore a badge on his barbed wire vest,
it rattled & squeaked every time he'd snore
He and the miss's would make a mess,
in the Mansfield hall around half past four

Sunday arrives new buses of fools
He beat 'em all up and changed all the rules

Northern Ohio would never be the same
Every other town was saying his name
The preacher couldn't call, his eyes wide shut
Long distance advice was way outta touch
"What should I do?" He thought while he sweat
At least his pawns hadn't spoken up yet.

"One of these days" he'd state with a grin,
"I'm gonna believe in something new
I'm gonna find a savior who'll help me win",
He'd say it every time his paranoia grew

So Monday came and with it the weight
of finding a spot to stash all the bait
and hiding the death of all those he touched
but the places he found, they weren't big enough
Lockdown was ordered early that night
It was a perfect excuse since there was no light
Usually Rust would leave at that point
but he never punched out so he hid in that joint.

When things got quiet the boys settled down,
he appeared out of hiding and started his plan
The box in the closet right above her gown
"She could have been up there getting her fan"

He had to plant this and also move that
To make it look like that's where the gun sat
He wanted no question that the weapon fell
on it's own to the floor as it sent her to hell
Some people say that Helen knew too much
Maybe she discovered what was up with Rust
and stumbled upon the truth of every sin he did
or saw him feed his demons like a troubled kid.

Every now and then he would catch her perfume
Many years later in every prison room
While walkin' his rounds, inmates would say:
"Look out Rust, because she's coming your way".
